Allagash Curieux. 11% abv. Aged in oak bourbon barrels. Hazy honey color. Amazing thick head that never goes away. Superb lacing. Aroma of vanilla, botanicals, and bourbon. Front taste of bourbon, sweet malt, bright and mildly bitter hops in the back. Aftertaste of hops and bourbon. Big full body. Rich creamy mouthfeel with small-bead foam cascading throughout. This is a world-class beer that has clearly been crafted with detail and care.
From the brewery:
"Allagash Curieux was our first foray into barrel aging. Curieux is made by aging our Tripel Ale in Jim Beam bourbon barrels for eight weeks in our cold cellars. The aged beer is then blended back with a portion of fresh Tripel. The resulting beer is soft with coconut and vanilla notes, with hints of bourbon."
