Lakefront Brewery 'Bridge Burner' Imperial Amber Ale

Lakefront Brewery 'Bridge Burner' Imperial Amber Ale. 8.5% abv. 45 IBU. Dark amber in color. Rich creamy ivory head that almost feels nitrogenated. Head gradually subsides to a finger thick that retains well to the end. Nice lacing throughout. Nose of caramel, malt, fresh biscuits. Front taste is heavy, bready malt with background floral hops. Aftertaste is malty with some subtle notes of citrus peel and some faint hop bite. Medium-full body. Mouthfeel is sticky, rich, thick. This is a big malty beer with great balance and just enough complexity for its category. An excellent choice, one that you will return to many times.

From the brewery:

"The Bridge Burner pours a deep, fiery amber with a rocky off-white head. The assertive aroma is dominated by dry, earthy American hops: citrus, floral and pine tree notes all make a showing. The hops dominate, lending a hefty bitterness to the palate, but are backed up by the caramel malts, which lend a substantial body without any extra sweetness. A warm alcohol burn finishes it off with a nod to its considerable 8.5% ABV. 2009 Los Angeles County Fair gold medal barley wine winner. This brew needs a big, rich, flavorful meal to stand up to its intensity. Try it with German fare Milwaukee’s ancestors loved: beef sauerbraten or bratwurst and pan-roasted potatoes. Goes great with barbecue or grilled hamburgers."
