Flying Dog Brewing 'Gonzo' Imperial Porter. 9.2% abv. 85 IBU. Dark brown/black in color. Thick tan head like whipped cream. Outstanding retention and superb lace. Nose of dark fruit, plum, dark roasted malt, distant vanilla. Front taste of bittersweet dark chocolate, raisins, black coffee. Aftertaste of coffee, cocoa, citrus rind, bitter earthy hop bite. Full body. Mouthfeel is hot, creamy, alcoholic.
This is an excellent Imperial Porter. The malty backbone is complimented by the bitter, almost harsh, flavor profile of the dark chocolate and coffee notes. Excellent body, head, nose, and taste. Wonderful stuff. Highly recommended.
