Don Tomás Cameroon Collection Perfecto

Don Tomás Cameroon cigar 1
Don Tomás Cameroon Collection Perfecto. 6x48. Nice build with straight lines. Torpedo crown with a Perfecto foot. Medium shade of brown with some dark veins. Good cut and light. Medium draw pre- and post-flame. First half tastes of rich creamy Cameroon, light wood, mild herbal spice notes. Second half has more pronounced earthy spice, toasted/charred wood, darker bitter toward the band. Strong clean ash that holds over an inch. Even burn throughout.

This is an excellent cigar, a solid example of a standard Cameroon. The mild nutty taste of the creamy wrap coupled with the slightly building spice profile make it a good go-to cigar from a reliable brand. Well recommended.

NOTE: Forgive the pics. They're not the result of any fancy filters. They're just bad photos.

From the company:

“Medium to full in body and perhaps best known for its complexity, Don Tomás Cameroon is a smoke with great panache. Its exotic blend of Dominican, Mexican, and Brazilian tobacco is balanced by a Dominican binder and punctuated by a brawny Cameroon wrapper to impart profound flavor that engages the palate from the first draw to the last.”

Perfecto cigars are really a work of art and are generally only rolled by the most skilled of cigar craftsman. All the tobaccos in this line of Don Tomás cigars have been aged for a minimum of three years. Drew Estate 'Acid' Krush Classic Red Cameroon

Drew Estate 'Acid' Krush Classic Red Cameroon. By Drew Estate. 4x32 cigarillo. Good build with subtle veins. Not as smooth as I'd like, but straight and well wrapped. Nice light brown color. Cut and lit well. Superb draw pre and post light. Sweet taste on the cut crown. Aromatic smoke akin to a fragrant spice bouquet. On the intake, taste is sweet caramel, pepper, floral herbs. The exhale has notes of coriander, pungent flowery herbs, strong black pepper. Flavors were consistent down to the band. This is another excellent aromatic from Drew Estate that pushes the flavor and aroma to the top. Cigar "purists" may not appreciate the abundant flavor profile, but I adore it. Highly recommended to lovers of aromatics with a half-hour to break away.

From the company:

"ACID Krush Classic is a quick taste of the ACID flavor offered in a small, 4×32 easy-to-smoke format. Offered in four different infusion and wrapper varieties, these are the perfect short smoke for the ACID fan. The four varieties offered are Blue Connecticut, Gold Sumatra, Morado Maduro, and Red Cameroon. If you love our full-sized ACID blends, you will love these quicker-smoking versions of your favorites. Packed in 10-ct tins with 5 tins to a carton. Singles available for display refill."

La Aurora Doble Corona

La Aurora Doble Corona. 7.5x50. Good construction and color on the mostly smooth Cameroon wrap. Cut and lit well. Medium draw pre-light and across the stick. Clean ash that drops at an inch. Even burn until first inch ash drop, but not a deal breaker. Earthy, mildly spicy taste on the intake, dry woodsy tobacco flavor on the exhale. This is a decent value smoke that would be fine with a summer brew.

From the company:

"La Aurora S.A is the oldest cigarmaker in the Dominican Republic, having rolled cigars there since 1903… La Aurora Traditional (is) the first cigar manufactured in the Dominican Republic, it is the result of the dedication and excellence of more than a century of tradition. Expert artisans who use the best selection of tobaccos harvested in the plantations of the El Cibao Valley make these cigars."

Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur 1066 Robusto

Hoyo de Monterrey Excalibur 1066 Robusto. Cameroon wrap. Cut and lit very well, with a smooth draw. Spicy aroma and taste pre-light, woodsy taste of cedar during first third. Even burn with clean, clingy ash. Wonderful cigar, better than some that are triple the price. This line is no longer called the 1066 (it's called "Cameroon" now), so this stick has aged and kept well.

From the company:

"Excalibur 1066 is a rich cigar with a tangy Cameroon wrapper. Made in Honduras, each 1066 is hand rolled to ensure top quality. Named after the legendary sword of King Arthur, Excalibur has quickly become a legend in its own right. Recognized as a premium cigar at an attractive price, Excalibur combines the straightforward taste of Honduran tobacco with the smooth flavor of a Cameroon wrapper. Painstaking attention to the quality of the components and care in craftsmanship have earned Excalibur a well-deserved reputation for excellence. Commemorating another chapter in Britain's storied past, General Cigar has set out to create an epic cigar bearing the date of the climactic Battle of Hastings in 1066. Excalibur 1066 is an extraordinary smoke, combining the full-bodied taste of its Honduran origin with the rich finish provided by its Cameroon wrapper. For years, the original Excalibur line and Excalibur 1066 have been very popular amongst aficionados who enjoy a full-flavored cigar."

CAO Cameroon L'Anniversarie Robusto

CAO Cameroon L'Anniversarie Robusto. Smooth wrap with mostly consistent color, a couple of spots off. Bad cut (my fault), good light, excellent even burn. Clean light gray ash that holds well. Creamy Cameroon taste from the first puff on. Medium draw. Consistent taste and burn to the band. Aside from my butchering of the cut, this is a perfect cigar. CAO is the benchmark of Cameroon smokes and it shows here again. This is one of my top choices.

From the company:

"There are many reasons why Cigar Aficionado (magazine) rated CAO Cameroon a 92, but chief among them is its remarkable balance. The sweet Cameroon wrapper and rich, earthy Nicaraguan blend of this top rated cigar are like yin and yang and sun and moon—they were just made to work together."
